Our Market Field is a fenced half acre dedicated to the main crops we grow for market. We're growing pumpkins again for 2026, along with bush beans, sunflowers, and other companions. In the fall, garlic will move into the rotation to support healthy soil and organic farming practices.
Our first trial plot for learning how Midvale soil and plants respond to compost, water, sun, pests, disease control, and close companion plantings. This garden taught us countless lessons while we built the infrastructure needed to expand our production capacity into larger areas such as the market field and orchard.
Planted in 2025 as a 15-tree trial, our orchard builds on Test Garden lessons in companion planting and biodiversity. Supported by grapes, honeyberries, clover, comfrey, and wild ginger, we manage it organically and aim for a fungal-rich, forest-edge ecology. We also plan to add beekeeping in 2026 as part of our regenerative, integrated approach to the farm.
